POKOTABI / Café Fuwa
喫茶 風和
Located in Oedakutsukake-cho, Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto, Café Fuwa serves satisfying kissaten comfort food, from morning sets starting at 7:00 and meticulous cold-brew coffee to pork cutlet curry and homestyle set meals.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Opening its doors at 7:00, Café Fuwa is a classic retro café where guests can ease into the morning while leafing through newspapers and magazines. An affordable morning service arrives with toast, a boiled egg, and salad, pairing smoothly with a clean, crisp Dutch cold-brew coffee to start the day at a tranquil pace.
Come lunchtime, the kitchen turns out reassuring, homestyle comfort fare. A popular draw among diners is the tonkatsu curry, featuring freshly fried pork cutlet set over a rich sauce that begins with gentle sweetness before giving way to a pleasant spice. Teishoku set meals served with miso soup and small side dishes—including chicken katsu, tonkatsu, and the daily rotating "Mama's Whim" special—bring comforting warmth to an everyday lunch.
The wider menu covers light bites like udon noodles, omurice, toasted bread, and sandwiches, alongside classic café beverages ranging from Russian coffee to ice cream floats. On-site parking is available. Since payment is cash only, it helps to keep some coins on hand before stopping by.
